After a long journey, you have finally arrived in a new land. You immediately start building and developing your city.
[green][tip] This tutorial is best viewed on a computer![/green]1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment000
NekonyancerUnfortunately, the way this game was coded does not allow for interactivity in tutorial mode, but we can still learn this great game! :)2archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment000
NekonyancerIn [blue]My City,[/blue] players will simultaneously lay polyomino-shaped buildings into their city in a way that scores the most points. After scoring, a new episode will start. There are *24* episodes, each with new mechanics to spice up the game!
This is a *legacy* game, so your success (or failure) in one episode will have repercussions in future episodes!3archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment000
NekonyancerTo start the first episode, we need to click on the [red]*"Start episode"*[/red] button. You can find it yourself, right?
*Go ahead and click on it. Then click on "Continue."*
You may have to scroll down to see the next box.
4archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment000cty_intro_buttons 1
NekonyancerEach round, a card will be drawn. Every player will then have to add the building shown on the card to their city!
[red]*Looks like the first building is two spaces by one space!*[/red]
Scroll down for the next box.5cty_card_7000cty_card_7 1
Nekonyancer[green]This is where our grand city will be built![/green] Plans for the first building are already in place. We can click and drag the building to move it and use the arrow buttons above the building to rotate it.
*Try it!*
[red]Note that you cannot flip the building onto its other side![/red]6cty_placetool_icons000
NekonyancerThe first building must be placed with at least one side *adjacent to the river. One corner touching the river isn't good enough!
[img]https://snipboard.io/FylmCh.jpg[/img]7cty_placetool_icons000
NekonyancerAlso, your buildings can never *straddle* the river! They're buildings, not bridges!
[img]https://snipboard.io/P7ObgJ.jpg[/img]8cty_placetool_icons000
NekonyancerOrient your building so it looks exactly like this:
[img]https://snipboard.io/OtaDjn.jpg[/img]
In a game, you'd then click on the checkmark button below and to the right of the building. But for this tutorial, just click on *"Continue."*9cty_placetool_icons000
NekonyancerGreat! Now everyone has a new building to place. From now on, any building you place must be placed so *at least one square of it* is adjacent to another building. Again, corners don't count!1cty_placetool_icons634385f7534c000
NekonyancerIt's fine if the river runs *between* 2 buildings, as long as the river does not run through a building itself.
[img]https://snipboard.io/SMxWuk.jpg[/img]2cty_placetool_icons634385f7534c000
NekonyancerYou also cannot cover up a previously placed building. If you try, [red]*Xs*[/red] should appear on your new building!
3cty_placetool_icons634385f7534c000
Nekonyancer[red]*Xs*[/red] will also appear if you try to cover up the [green]*thick forest*[/green] on the right side of your board or the *mountains* on the left side. Same thing if you try to straddle the river. *Try it!*
*I'll go ahead and place this building for you now...*4cty_placetool_icons634385f7534c000
NekonyancerNext, I'll talk about *rocks and trees.* We should try to cover up as many [red]*rocks*[/red] as we can while leaving the [blue]*trees*[/blue] alone!
[img]https://snipboard.io/1okVQh.jpg[/img]1cty_placetool_icons6343861cbf97f00
NekonyancerPosition the next building like this, covering the rocks.
[img]https://snipboard.io/Pb69j1.jpg[/img]
*Then click on "Continue."*2cty_placetool_icons6343861cbf97f00
NekonyancerTime for some more placement rules. Do you see the [green]*thick forest*[/green] on the right side of your board and the *mountains* on the left side? You can't build in those areas. If you move a building over them, Xs should appear on parts of your building. Try it!4cty_placetool_icons6343861cbf97f00

Nekonyancer*Okay!* The game will continue as you've seen. Eventually, the boards will become very crowded, and players may not want to place buildings.
They can use the [red]*pass*[/red] button instead, which you can see at the top of the screen.1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment634386443daff00
NekonyancerBut if they pass, they will have to pay 1 victory point by moving [blue]*this cube*[/blue] back on the VP track. Everyone starts the game at 10.
[red]If their cube reaches 0, they will not be able to pass anymore![/red]2cty_cube_92143487634386443daff00cty_cube_92143487 2
NekonyancerPlayers also have the option to *end their participation* in an episode, passing their current turn and all future turns. If they do so, they will not lose any points.3cty_cube_92143487634386443daff00
Nekonyancer[blue]The episode will end if:[/blue]
- Everyone ends their participation.
OR
- All building cards are played.
[green][tip] You can see what buildings are left by clicking on the "Reserve" button![/green]4cty_button_reserve634386443daff00cty_button_reserve 3
NekonyancerWhen the episode is over, we move to scoring!
*Each player scores:*
[red]- Minus 1 point[/red] for each empty light-green space on their board.
[red]- Minus 1 point[/red] for each uncovered rock.
[green]- Plus 1 point[/green] for each uncovered tree.
Whoever has the most points wins the episode!5archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment634386443daff00
NekonyancerFor example, this tile is worth -2 points because there are two rocks on it.
[img]https://snipboard.io/s1rie5.jpg[/img]
It does not remove an additional point for being a light green tile because the tile is not empty.6archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment634386443daff00
NekonyancerIn a *2-player* game, the winner of an episode gets to fill in *two progress symbols,* which are the beige circles at the top of your board. [green]They will record your progress from episode to episode![/green]
In a *3/4-player* game, the winner can fill in two symbols, and the runner-up can fill in one.
In addition, any player who scored more than 50 points can fill in one more symbol.7archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment634386443daff00
NekonyancerFinally, some players may have to augment their boards with *stickers,* depending on the player rankings and the episode being completed.
Stickers can add rocks, trees, or other new surprises to boards. [green]You'll have to play the game for yourself if you want to see them![/green]8archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment634386443daff00
Nekonyancer[blue]*Thank you for playing through this tutorial for My City!*[/blue]
