General
- When placing your borders, begin to enclose 4 hexes that you can win, then try to enclose enough additional hexes before closure so you can still win, but not too large that another set of four hexes can be subdivided and won by your opponent.
- It might be useful to enclose a concentration of your opponents stronger hexes, while separating a concentration of your stronger hexes in order to increase the number of your districts at the expense of the number of your opponents districts.
- When choosing your hexes to enclose, you may want to extensively subdivide any district where your higher numbers are concentrated. Subdivide your strong areas and place borders between them and your opponent’s stronger areas.
- This is a useful strategy at the outset of the game which may allow you to enclose more districts.
