25. Aug 2017 19:39 • The bug might be, at a guess, the incorrectly coded assumption that the card color type cannot be changed when there's a good on it.
I dug pretty thoroughly into that and can't find any support for that anywhere in the rules or the cards wordings, or in any forum discussions such as boardgamegeek.com/thread/715642/alien-oort-cloud-refinery where comments explicitly support (and none refute) changing type to a type different than the good.

28. Aug 2017 13:50 • There is no good on Oort during the last settle phase, so it's hard to tell what the world type is at the moment. Having a good on the world doesn't prevent the use of Oort's power. However, the good type cannot be different than the world type. If you change the world type it also changes the good type.
You say that the Oort's power has been used that phase. Are you sure you selected a Genes (green) type? You did it before the end of the phase?
I'm considering adding the current chosen type for Oort on the tooltip, as it is currently impossible to tell which is the current type if there's no good on it.

4. Nov 2017 19:46 • Still a bug. Hit this again on table #34927893 , when System Diversity wasn't awarded even though there wasn't even a good on the Oort Refinery.

4. Nov 2017 20:03 • Hit a variant this yet again on the next game at table #34928384 ... Largest Industry still not awarded around turn #90 despite the three blue goods/worlds (and only two or the opponent)

4. Nov 2017 23:15 • #34927893: from the replay, it looks like you changed the kind to novelty good (blue). You needed genes (green) to gain system diversity. The current kind can now be seen in the tooltip. Maybe I'll add kind changes to the log to make it even more clear.
#34928384: did you manually changed the oort kind to blue or brown before the end of the settle phase? You have to do it to earn goals.

1. Feb 2018 23:02 • 37355699 move 50.
Brown good on oort cloud, green, blue and yellow worlds, did not get system diversity.
my understanding is, regardless of the good on the world (which, iirc, isn't set until it is _used_, as irl games don't have color coded goods), the oort cloud is all four colors, all the time. A planet has a good on it, or not. What that good type is is defined by the planet it is on.

1. Feb 2018 23:12 • Page 15 of the BoW rules:
The Alien Oort Cloud Refinery’s kind is chosen when placed, can be changed by its owner at any time, and is chosen (once) before scoring.
So no, it's not all four colors all the time. It's one color, of the player choice and can be changed anytime, regardless of whether the world has a good on it or not. When it doesn't have a good, you can see the current kind in the tooltip. Changing the kind is also now logged in the messages.
Also, System Diversity can only be awarded at the end of the settle phase (hence the III in the top left corner of the tile).

22. Mar 2020 4:30 • See Table #67683785, end of game. I had 3 types and Alien Oort Refinery, so System Diversity should have been awarded to me. The bug may stem from the fact that when the Oort Refinery was placed, it asked for the type, and I selected Novelty. However, the cards says the type can be chosen at any time and at game end. Perhaps the solution is to also award it if the Oort Refinery is in play and someone has three world types, and potentially also be able to change the type at the beginning and/or end of every phase, including game end.

22. Mar 2020 4:36 • Perhaps ignore some of my last as I see you can select the type at any time using the tooltip. However, automatically awarding System Diversity at the end of the settle phase when someone has the Oort Refinery in play and also has three world types may be a good added solution and will help eliminate some people's confusion as to why it was not awarded.

14. Apr 2020 8:03 • I had this problem as well, table #74406489. I repeatedly selected "Genes" as the type but was not awarded System Diversity until later building a separate genes planet.

1. May 2020 4:02 • I could be wrong, but I'm not sure Oort Cloud is looked at AT ALL for goals. I had 3 alien cards (keyword ALIEN goal, not the color yellow), and I didn't get credit for it. Oort Cloud was one of the 3. I played a 4th one and got credit for it. This was a different game and I forgot to record the game number.

13. Sep 2024 16:25 • I had the same problem. One interesting detail is that when I was producing with Diversified Economy, I got a prompt to "undefined" when using the +1 card per type of good produced benefit. In the end Diversified Economy seemed to behave properly despite the flawed text, but I should have won the System Diversity award and I did not.
