The timer already exists. You can activate it by clicking the hourglass next to the continue button or by changing the personal preference "start new turn" to automatically. Then a 5 second timer will start and presses the continue button automatically.
The timer will be interrupted when viewing the discard pile, turn deck, etc. This will stop a player from missing game steps because he is distracted.
Also, i disabled the timer by default. The first request regarding the continue button was to stop at each card so players have time to understand what is happening.
You also can deactivate the continue feature _during_ play by clicking gear in the the top right edge of the board.
Is this afk during steps really a big problem? Do these people read the chat so you can point them to activating the timer? Or do you think the timer should always be active, but with 10 oder 15 sec by default? And the timer should not be deactivateable?
may be I just change the timer time. 3sec when activated, and 10sec when not activated.
