8. Mar 2022 19:52 • We're experiencing the same problem. Recently finished two "Turn-based, no time limit games". The rematches are created as "Real time" games, which we've canceled.
Here are the original, turn-based games:
* boardgamearena.com/table?table=247774141
* boardgamearena.com/table?table=247826339

My games have been turn-based no time limit games.
I think the problem stems that you must restrict the table to friends only to set the game speed to "no time limit". The rematch button seems to fail to restrict the table, thus the game speed can't be set to "no time limit" and defaults to real time normal speed.

21. Mar 2022 15:42 • I am routinely playing 20 turn-based games at a time, each with friends. We always set it to no time limit, and almost always rematch as soon as we are done. A few days ago the default settings for a rematch stopped being the same as the last game and instead a time-limited game. This is a huge hassle because it means that the person proposing the rematch has to quickly scramble to change the time limit settings back to no time limit (which also requires setting the table to being restricted to My friends). And if someone joins before the person can do that, we have to abandon the game and set up fresh.
This change is a burden on the users and makes the general website experience unpleasant every time we rematch.
I understand wanting to prevent abuse of the system by only allowing friends to play without a time limit. That can still stay in effect in almost every scenario. The only modification needed is for rematches to keep the same settings as the game that is being rematched. That is the only exception. And given that it would be an exception for players that have enjoyed playing with each other and want to continue playing against each other, it seems unlikely that it will lead to any system abuse.

12. Aug 2022 7:48 • I feel like I had this problem a while before and it was fixed, but today I invited a friend to play Hanabi (via the select friend and then select game mode) with "no time limit".... every time I hit "propose rematch" after it automated back to the "real-time speed" default generally used with random matching. The first rematch, I didn't notice until mid-game I realized I had a red timer during my turn. After, I tried remaking the room again and double checking the setting was correct, and upon proposing a rematch after that, it reverted to the real-time default yet again.
I don't know if this is a temporary lapse or bug but hopefully it doesn't persist. I'm sure everyone likes the settings saved as they were the previous match.

This is clearly an intended behavior that was part of a change to an existing functionality on the website that was not clearly communicated to users, thus causing confusion and frustration. There is no development needed, but there is a communications lesson to be learned.
