Swap rule
The first player places three discs - one red disc, one yellow disc, then another red disc. After the first 3 discs are placed, the second player may switch colors.
Your opponent was the first player, thus they placed 3 discs.
Check the replay, you could've swapped colors instead of placing a disc (there is a button for that).
