The thread does say that you could boost an action, even one taken with the medic. I'm not sure what action that would be. Maybe using the medic to defend someone? Doesn't make much sense to me.
I see that's the publisher answering it and, in the past, we've had a lot of issues with designers and publishers giving informal replies that contradict the rules and even themselves. The standard rules list what are considered actions (e.g., Draw, Dig and Hunt), and I'd want to see something formal like a rules reference or an errata before considering this further.
"The Mentor's ability cannot be used to modify Meds (Pills and Medkit) as they are a resource and not an action per-se. The Mentor's ability can, however, improve the Medic's ability to apply medicine (i.e. +1 to Meds score)."
I am not modifying Meds Items (Pills or Medikit), I want to "improve the Medic's ability to apply medicine" and produce more of the Meds resource.
There's not an explicit Treat action where Pills, Medics and Medkits are played from hand to generate the Medicine resource, but there is an implicit one - Hire. In terms of a rules reference, I'm trying to enhance the Hire action: imgur.com/a/kdTUvsC
In Draw, I play cards from my hand and add up their Draw scores.
In Hunt, I play cards from my hand and add up their Hunt scores.
In Dig, I play cards from my hand and add up their Dig scores.
In Hire, I play cards from my hand and add up their Medicine score. (and benefit from previous Hunt)
In Fight, I play the remaining cards in my hand and add up their Fight score.
Mentor states "Each round you may play 1 Refugee card to grant another tribe member a +1 to any action". I am playing a Medic from my hand for the Hire action. I wish to play a refugee to grant it +1.
Given the current complexity of the implementation, I have no plans to continue expanding the game's scope beyond what's explicitly defined in the rules and official errata.
