#125389: "Prelude Corp options"
What is this report about?
What happened ? Please select from below
Suggestion: in my opinion, the following would greatly improve the game implementation
Detailed description
• Please explain your suggestion precisely and concisely so that it's as easy as possible to understand what you mean.
The prelude rules allow for the new corporations to be added to the deck or a variant where 1 corp is from prelude and the other is not. I would like to propose a third option which is no prelude corporations.
The Steam implementation allows for all three of these options and many players prefer playing with no prelude corporations, but with preludes. This is mainly due to the large power creep of corporations in the prelude expansion compared to the base game. Having this option will increase the skill ceiling and will help encourage players from Steam to play on BGA as well.• What is your browser?

28. May 2024 15:30 • How is it a house rule when Jacob Fryxelius overlooked the Steam implementation very thoroughly - e.g. preventing live score tracking because it was not in the official rules. Meanwhile he was completely fine with the option to leave out Prelude corps. If BGA wants to attract the best players, it is ridiculous to force them into an imbalanced mode (Prelude + Prelude corps)

I took some screenshots of the options which are available. No prelude corps, prelude corp and a standard corp dealt out, and random dealing of prelude corps and standard corps.

If it does really need approval again, how can we start the process of obtaining it?
Again, allowing this option will greatly increase the skill cap of the game, as it is one that almost all of the highest ranked players on steam use.

15. Jul 2025 1:01 • This option is required to enable the most competitive variant of Terraforming Mars. It is clear the Fryx approved of this variant, as they already approved the Asmodee option (and several other user-suggested content has been vetoed by Fryx, so this is clearly an official variant). Furthermore, the Prelude rulebook explicitly offers the ability to mix-and-match the Base game with Preludes and Prelude corps, as below:
“ Variants: Deal each player 1 corporation from Prelude,
and 1 from the other corporations. If you want to play a
game without the Prelude cards, you may still keep the 7
project cards and the 5 corporations in the game.”
The above variant is referred to as “Highlight Draw” on the Steam application (it is clearly officially sanctioned and approved by Fryx). But this text also makes clear that you may play the Base Game with *or* without Prelude corps and cards.
