Strangely, there's this message in the log "The discard pile is shuffled to replace the depleted deck"—which is a good thing to log—yet the deck and discard pile themselves are nowhere to be found.

This isn't a bug in the sense that it's functioning as designed. I'm going to reclassify this as a suggestion and evaluate it based on how many votes it receives.
