Skeleton has a damage of 8. On the very first round of the game we were 3 guards on peril 3. The damage should've been divided by 3 rounded down, so 2 each. Minus the armor. INSTEAD we got hit for 4 damage each, but commander had armor so he only received 3.

Sensei did illusions at lvl 1. So it didnt split the damage but it looks like it made the enemy stronger! -

What happens is that the sensei's illusion lvl 1 says "the monster will divide his damage as if there were 2 guards on each peril" but since we manage to being 3 of us on peril 3, it should just divide the damage instead 3, but this looks like its overridden by the illusion.
So illusion is forcing the game to deal damage equal to half the skeleton's damage to EVERYONE on the highest peril, instead of dividing by 3 and round down.
Level-1 Create Illusion is intentionally situational. Used when a single player is being attacked, it halves the incoming damage - quite a powerful effect. But if used when two or more players are being attacked, it can be useless or detrimental. In the narrative, you could imagine a skillfully-used illusion causing the monster to slash at empty air or a brick wall, but a poorly-used illusion might goad the monster into swinging harder or accidentally guide it to other players' throats.
